Putting Natural Power To Work For The Local Community

The Nantwich Mill Hydro-electric project will turn clean and green energy into a stream of community funding for the benefit of local people.

Nantwich Mill Hydro-Electric Company has been set up by a group of local people to generate sustainable green electricity and funds for local community good causes.

It will bring the natural power of the historic Nantwich Mill back to life.

Delivering clean green electricity, from an unobtrusive water turbine slotted into the weir on the River Weaver in the town centre, the project will power up the historic Mill site, contributing to the town’s reputation as a thriving centre for food, culture and quality of life.

Small enough to not make a stir but big enough to power 15-20 homes and shop, the scheme will make a big impact from a small environmental footprint.

All profits, after running costs, will be shared out to popular local community organisations, supporting a host of education, health and environmental improvements in the town. Current projections put this funding stream at £10,000 plus every year.

Funding

We need hundreds of people and local companies to pledge their backing for the project – to become shareholders committing seed-corn funding that will payback benefits for the local community and the environment year after year.

Share In The Future

This a community project for the benefit of the community.

The land is owned by Cheshire East Council and they will give us permission to go ahead if we can demonstrate that we have the funding in place to make it happen.

We need £220,000 to get the project through the planning system, the turbine built and everything else through to switching on the turbine and making community profits.

So in the long run we need hundreds of people and local companies to pledge their backing for the project – to become shareholders committing seed-corn funding that will payback benefits for the local community and the environment year after year to come.

We don't want you money now we just need your pledge. Once we have convinced the council we will come back to you by emailto ask yu to commit to your shareholding

Action Now - Please help put pressure on the council please write to the leader of the council and cabinet telling them this is a great idea and you want them to release the land and give the project their backing. Link to the council here
